ADVISORY CIRCULAR 8/09
Special use airspace (SUA) Area PIP-1419
Each national authority designates areas of special use airspace (SUA), primarily for reasons of national security.
Therefore, notice is hereby given to all concerned that the Airspace area PIP-1419, having its epicenter at 32º38´28.60´´N and 16º55´03.78W with a diameter of 200 meters in the Principality of Ilheu da Pontinha is decreed by D. Renato I as Special Use Airspace (SUA) and henceforth Prohibited Airspace to all Air Navigation until further notice. This prohibition is effective from the date stamped on this document at the end of this page.
The Principality is not signatory of IATA or any other International organizations including NATO and as such, using its own discretionary powers, makes this airspace prohibited to all air navigation from the 1.5 feet MSL until 60,000 Feet. The prohibited airspace forms a cylinder with a 200 meter diameter at the base and top and encompasses all airspace until 60,000 feet above MSL.
Violating prohibited airspace established by the Principality for national security purposes may result in military interception and/or the possibility of an attack upon the violating aircraft.
Aircraft violating or about to violate the Principality`s prohibited airspace will be warned beforehand on 121.5 MHz;
Airspace Monitoring and detection is accomplished with a Mobile radar surveillance unit linked via Very small aperture Terminal (VSAT) to a Principality friendly country located in eastern Europe. A full C4I intelligence Unit is on standby for selection and management of the countermeasures to be employed if warranted.
